Dairy Queen in Wisconsin Rapids is getting new owners

Tami, Craig and Kazmira Kasten are the new owners of Dairy Queen in Wisconsin Rapids.

The trio announced their new adventure on the local Dairy Queen's Facebook page May 31 and shared that they are excited for the opportunity to meet and serve their new customers in the area.

The new owners also shared more about themselves in their announcement. Tami Kasten is an accountant and owns Accounting Plus in Wisconsin Rapids. Craig Kasten recently retired from the village of Port Edwards after 30 years. Kazmira Kasten is a chiropractic technician at Stoiber Chiropractic and also works at Accounting Plus and Dairy Queen.

Love it Again Thrift Store will open June 14 at 401 12th Ave. S. in Wisconsin Rapids.

The store helps support Love INC of South Wood County, a local branch of an organization that coordinates services with local churches, nonprofit organizations, other community organizations and volunteers.

When the store opens, shoppers can find a variety of clothing of all sizes, household items, furniture, books and more. All items at the store are donated.

According to a release from Love INC, the store's mission is to serve neighbors in need, create opportunities for volunteers to serve, offer a unique shopping experience and help support the local Love INC organization.

People can help support the store by donating items, volunteering or donating money. All proceeds from Love it Again Thrift Store will help fund the growth of Love INC's ministries.

The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 401 12th Ave. S. in Wisconsin Rapids. For more information, visit loveincswc.org or find Love it Again Thrift Store on Facebook.

If you’ve driven down Eighth Street, you might have noticed a new sign at a dental office near Aldi.

Dr. Karla McDonald purchased Hughes Family Dental and moved her dentist practice to 1111 Eighth St. S. on March 31. McDonald said the office has new equipment and has been remodeled inside, as well.

Last month, Coldwell Banker-Siewert Realtors announced that in April, J.R. Siewert passed the reins to Jennifer Parr-Murphy, his business partner of 15 years. Parr-Murphy is now the managing broker for Coldwell Banker offices in Adams and Rome, as well as for Coldwell Banker-Siewert Realtors in Wisconsin Rapids.

After 45 years in the family real estate business, J.R. Siewert will be stepping back to serve Coldwell Banker-Siewert Realtors in an advisory role, continuing to represent residential and commercial clients.

Valentine Siewert started a real estate brokerage in 1933 with his wife, Dorothy. In 1952, the family formed Siewert's Real Estate and Insurance, including their sons John T. Siewert and Perry Siewert. John Siewert Jr. – J.R. Siewert – joined the real estate business in 1978, and the company became affiliated with Coldwell Banker in 1982.
