Wall panelling has made a comeback as a must-have home interior trend, suitable for any room in the house. From bedrooms to dining rooms, this textured feature is easy to recreate in as big or small a space as you like - and all you need is a few simple tools. A self-proclaimed DIY hacks expert on TikTok has shared the easiest way to recreate the slat-wall trend using sticky-back strips.

Posting on her TikTok account, Jasmine (@_ohabode), demonstrated the "no damage" hack in just a few quick steps.

With her pre-cut wooden slats ready to go, the DIY expert revealed the easy swap to make a removable feature wall.

The renter-friendly solution swapped nails and glue for Command Strips.

Jasmine said: "Use the largest of the sizes and apply to the top and bottom of each slat."

To achieve an even finish, the TikTok user recommended using a spirit level.

She explained that this is only necessary to measure the first slat.

After this, you can use the thin edge of the remaining slats to measure an equal distance between each one.

Mounting the slats is as easy as peeling the film from the Command Strips and sticking the slats to the wall.

Jasmine said: "When it comes to move out day, simply peel the strips off the wall!"

To avoid damaging the wall, gently tug on the loose piece of the adhesive strip.

The flat edge of the Command Strips should then peel away from the wall without leaving any marks.

If you don't have the sticky strips on hand, double-sided tape will work just as well.

Known as "DIY Mum", TikTok user @belle_car explained how to create a more permanent slat wall feature.

In a video posted on her account, the home interiors-lover said: "I have this annoying slanted wall in my hallway and I just felt like it was a very negative use of space, so I wanted to cosy it up and make it a little bit more homely."

She started by painting the wall black before cutting the 6mm wide slats to fill the length of the wall.

After positioning the first slat on the wall using a spirit level, the TikTok user mapped out the remaining slats using a spacer.

She said: "I used double-sided tape, and then I just tacked it in with a hammer and a nail."

While this method will keep your slats in place for longer, the damage to your walls will be minimal.

In fact, according to the DIY expert, the only visible marks will be from the nails.

To experiment with your wooden slat feature wall, try using different colours beneath the wood or paint over them using a roller.
